The Multi-Cultural Development Center (MCDC) is a nonprofit, community-based, multi-program social services agency fulfilling the motto. Our motto is “Empowering and preserving life through our youth.” Working with approximately 300 youth and parents from poverty, drug and crime-ridden communities, we implement a Seven-Core Family Development Program consisting of:
- Social
- Political
- Economical
- Spiritual
- Physical
- Wellness Essential
- Educational
Bridging the gap between the home, church, school and community, poses daunting challenges. In addition, a large portion of the affected participants are from high poverty, low-performing school populations and single-parent, female-headed households. However, we firmly believe that a child’s achievement of success in school can literally transform the future of an entire family. Therefore, family involvement is mandatory to program implementation and success. Our strategy then as it relates to programs for youth, young adults, and at-risk citizens of our community encompass three main principles: creativity, ability to plan, and extended learning opportunities. The staff of employees and countless volunteers is committed to ensuring that our community’s disadvantaged citizens have greater access to quality programs and services. This, along with other programs ensures that no child is left behind.
Strong educational, job training, character development and community service comprise the nuclei of the programs in effect. A mixture of counseling and opportunities for spiritual nurturing give participants a chance to achieve self-worth and develop a sense of responsibility. Our reputation and history remain unblemished for implementing our mission as envisioned in fulfilling the terms and conditions of funded programs.
Recognizing that it is impossible to accomplish our mission alone, we have established numerous continued and sustained partnerships that leverage resources ranging from in-kind contributions to cash donations and sponsorships.
